Kiss your bride! Wedding rites and Gender relationship in Jewish, Muslim and Christian Tradition

PULSThe seminar aims at inter-religious, inter-national and intercultural encounters of Jewish, Christian, Muslim and a-religious students from Israel, the U.S., Poland, and Germany. We plan to assemble a group of around 10 Jewish, 10 Muslim and 30 Christians participants (including professors). It will take place from Sept. 2nd-9th 2012 in Schloss Gollwitz, Germany (near Berlin).
The seminar will provide exemplary insights into the internal plurality of Jewish, Christian and Muslim wedding rites, the difference between theology and folk-traditions, the relationship between religious and secular rites, the male and female role in liturgy and its texts. The participants of the interreligious exchange will develop teaching-material on different educational levels, which should be cross-over tested for its acceptance by the respective tradition (liberal/orthodox, protestant/catholic, religious/secular). The seminar will include excursions to historical sites in Berlin (including the hotspots for weddings), lots of spontaneous discussions and encounters.
The seminar is open for 10 students from Potsdam. 150EUR per person, we apply for funds.
