English at Work
PULSThis basic course will focus on accomplishing action with language. In particular, we will study the use of English as a tool for communication in a range of work contexts. Based on your linguistic knowledge so far, we will survey a number of lexical and syntactic forms in English and their usage in particular contexts. Moreover, participants will encounter practical examples of English at work in Germany, including advertising, political discourse, and language teaching among others, and we will discuss the challenges of using English as an additional language.
